Invisalign® Can Improve Minor Alignment Issues in a Short Amount of Time

With the passage of time, it is possible for changes in your mouth and jaw structure to cause your teeth to slightly alter their alignment. This is even more likely to be the case if you’ve had a tooth knocked out or extracted. Fortunately, our dentist, Dr. Jacob Shrayman, can use Invisalign® to improve the alignment issues with your teeth in as little as six to eight weeks.

Dr. Jacob Shrayman can fit you for Invisalign® in a single appointment. They will start by examining your mouth and taking a few X-rays to make sure your teeth are healthy. This also helps define your alignment goals and the number of custom aligners needed to restore the alignment of your smile.

Then, he will take an impression of your teeth. This will be sent to the Invisalign laboratory where a series of aligner trays will be made to custom match your teeth.

For the maximum effect and minimum duration of treatment, you will need to have the clear, plastic aligners in your mouth for 20 to 22 hours per day. Each set of aligners is designed to gradually stretch the periodontal ligaments anchoring your teeth, repositioning them a little bit closer to your ideal smile.

After two weeks, you will switch to another set of aligners that are tuned a little closer to your alignment goals. The number of aligners needed will vary. Most people meet their alignment goals in around six to eight weeks.

You can drink normally with the aligners in your mouth, but you will still need to remove them before eating. You should never smoke or chew gum while the aligners are in your mouth as this could potentially damage the aligners. Be sure to keep the Invisalign aligners in the case provided when you’re not wearing them.

If you have minor alignment issues in your smile, you should call Jacob Shrayman, DDS at (973) 791-4104 to ask about Invisalign in Verona, New Jersey. We wish you a happy, healthy, smile-filled holiday!
